__ADDITION TRICKS__

If we see to the scientific definition given by Aristotle, we get to know that “Mathematics is a science of Quantity”, which means it’s a systematic and structured study of the physical behavior of an observation or an experiment. Maths has four main limbs that perform all the operations involved in the solving of mathematical operations. Addition is a mathematical operation which gives a new result or value for the function by summating the two independent values.

__Example:__ If we want to add or give a solution to the expression:

**7 + 4 **

Then the result comes out to be **11 **and mathematically written as: **7 + 4 = 11, **where (+) sign symbolizes “Addition Operation” specifically and (=) depicts the solution of an expression which is usually written on the right of the sign. “Plus” is another name for an Addition operation.

**Count the Number Beyond**

__Example: __ Add 7 + 3 1 2 3

6 7 8 9 10 11

Since we wish to add 3 to 7, then we will count 3 numbers beyond 7, i.e. till 10. Therefore, the result for the expression is 7 + 3 = 10.

**Jump Method**

__Example: __ Add 6 + 13

While adding the above expression just think of adding 10 to 6 and then add 3 by counting 3 numbers beyond 16 till 19

Thus the result for an expression would become: 6 + 13 = 19.

**Make it 10**

__Example: __Add 6 + 8 + 2 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 4

In this expression try adding those digits first which make the result equal to 10, i.e.

6 + 4 = 10,

8 + 2 = 10,

9 + 1 = 10, addition of all the 10s become 30 and then adding the left out digit, 7 to 30.

Therefore, the total sum for the expression, 6 + 8 + 2 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 4 = 37

**Break Method**

__Example: __Add 19 + 4

In the above expression, split the biggest number into tens and units, i.e. break 19 into

10 + 9, now adding two unit numbers becomes easy.

Add 4 + 9 = 13 and then add the 10 to 13. The final result for the expression: 19 + 4 = 23

**Borrow for 10**

__Example: __8 + 6

In above expression, just 2 is required for making 10 by adding it to 8. So we can borrow 2 from 6 and reduce 6 to 4. Thus now the expression has become 8 + 2 + 4 = 14.

**Rounding up**

__Example: __ 18 + 15

For the above expression, it is easier to think 18 as 20. Now 20 can easily be added to 15 and then from the final result delete 2 which is extra as per the given expression.

Thus final conclusion for the problem is 20 + 15 = 35 – 2 = 33.

**Duple the digit**

__Example: __7 + 7

If two same numbers are to be added as in the above expression then the number is doubled i.e. 2 X 7 = 14

Therefore, 7 + 7 = 14
